Landscapes & Waterfalls

Though the school is not all about landscape photography, we do realise that one of the main reasons that people come to the Dales is because of the incredible scenery, and hence Landscapes and Waterfalls is one of our most popular sessions.

.

As with all photography, there has to be a technical element to it. It doesn't matter how artistic you are, or how beautiful the scenery is, if you can't take a sharp, well exposed picture, then it's all for nothing. With this in mind, our landscape photography days begin with a session in the classroom to cover the technical fundamentals and basics of landscape photography, before venturing forth on the footpaths of Wensleydale and Swaledale to the many superb photographic locations in our surrounding area.

.

We have a variety of routes to cater for every level of fitness, but because the trails are more about the photography than the walking, there are plenty of stops to take pictures, so there should be no problem for anyone with a basic level of fitness.

.

For those wanting to do more than just landscape photography, this session can be adapted into a travel photography day where we look at other subjects to photograph as well as the landscape, to give a more complete picture of the area. This is a very popular session, which starts in the classroom before going out on a National Geographic style assignment to produce a set of pictures of Wensleydale. It can also be expanded over any number of days to include other Dales locations

.

The session is available either as a half or full day. The full day will have a stop for lunch (either a packed lunch or stop at a local hostelry-not included in the cost), and finish back in the classroom  to review the day's efforts.
