Your main tutor at the Yorkshire Dales Photography School is Mike Barker, a professional photographer with 30 years experience working for the UK national media and international news agencies. During this time he has photographed almost every subject imaginable and gained a vast knowledge of photography.
He has been teaching photography for many years, including cruise ship lecturing, and since moving to the Dales has founded the Yorkshire Dales Photography School, with the aim of passing on real practical photography skills to both local people and some of the thousands of visitors which come to the area each year.
The school is based near Hawes in the stunning valley of Wensleydale and has a purpose built classroom for theory sessions, before students go out to put theory into practice in the beautiful surrounding area.
Mike's main work now is as a video journalist for AFP (the world's second largest news agency) and freelance cameraman for Sky News, and promotional film and documentary maker.
